I am an professional educator of Astronomy based in mumbai, i conduct shows for astronomy all around mumbai,

the worst part nearly everywhere i go, there is no clear view of the sky, i can no more show them the great nebulas and spectacular star clusters, because they either appear as ghosts or most of the times, not at all,

every-time i go to a place, i try to educate them about light pollution, its all interesting to them till the show goes on, but as soon as the show finishes its all back to business going around and doing nothing about it.

i dont think that it is necessary to go on about the ill effects of light pollution

increasingly taking a toll on animal life as they get ever more confused about the time, and ultimately messing with our bodies and throwing our biological clocks out of order.

90% of all children i have met in my career have never seen a star studded sky, forget the milky way, and naturally assume that the skies are always this bright.

this is very disappointing, and highlights our failure as astronomers and even more fundamentally as responsible citizens.

It is painful to see that we are still apathetic to the entire situation, we dont take efforts and ultimately, leading to more problems down the way,

some of us think that it is not important that we protect the skies, since its not important to what they do, isn't it enough that we do all that we do without giving a damn for what repercussions it may cause

But i have decided "Enough Talk ", and i have decided to do something about it,

i call upon all the people, who are nature lovers, astronomers or simply like the star studded sky, to RISE UP to this occasion so that we can do something about it. a Simple commitment can help us save power, preserve the night skies and help our next generation find their place in the stars,

we can help start a revolution, DARK SKIES for everyone
